The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is a world-renowned institution dedicated to plant science, horticulture, and education which also welcomes 1 million visitors to our Gardens every year. Our exceptional botanical collections – Living Collection, Herbarium, Library and Archives – support these activities and our work to catalogue and digitise these collections is a major strategic objective.
Working with the RBGE Archivist, you will carry out collection reviews, cataloguing and conservation assessments in addition to liaising with external suppliers to complete agreed programmes of digitisation and / or conservation in our manuscript, printed and photographic collections.
You will have a key role in completing collection surveys for the George Sherriff and Mary Gibby archives, creating full catalogue records for collections on the RBGE Archives Catalogue (AtoM), working with the RBGE Archivist and external conservators to identify items that require conservation, liaising with external suppliers to ensure the effective digitisation of collection items to an agreed standard and incorporating the digitised materials into the Archives Catalogue and / or Digital Asset Management (DAM) system as appropriate. The role also involves developing and documenting standard operating procedures for the digitisation of archival materials and carrying out public engagement activities relating to the projects / collections.
We are looking for someone who has strong organisational and communication skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and can work flexibly as part of a small team. Previous experience of cataloguing archival materials and an archives qualification are desirable.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Digital Delivery to lead its digital transformation programme. Responsible for the development and implementation of RBGE’s digital strategy, this role will provide leadership and expert guidance on infrastructure, network, cyber security, and business continuity. The successful candidate will be a champion of change and be responsible for managing complex projects using Agile and Lean methodologies. The Head of Digital Delivery will build and lead a high-performing digital team, refresh and implement RBGE’s digital strategy, leverage AI for innovation, promote data-driven decision-making, secure funding, manage budgets, and foster cross-functional collaboration.
The ideal candidate will have proven leadership in agile transformation projects, excellent communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and a proactive approach to technology solutions. Familiarity with emerging digital technologies, AI trends, cybersecurity principles, and GDPR legislation is essential, along with a degree in technology related discipline or equivalent experience. Are you a procurement professional passionate about sustainability, collaboration, and delivering value for money? The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Procurement Officer to join our Resources and Planning Division.
As our Senior Procurement Officer, you will play a key role in managing end-to-end regulated procurement activities across a diverse and impactful organisation. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and report to the Procurement Manager to ensure procurement strategies align with RBGE’s values and objectives.
You will lead regulated and support nonregulated procurement processes from strategy development through to contract award, and in some cases contract management. You’ll provide expert guidance on procurement planning, market engagement, and sustainability, while leveraging national and sectoral frameworks to ensure efficient, compliant outcomes. Your role will involve close collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver value-for-money solutions, and you’ll contribute to continuous improvement by supporting procurement training and capacity building across the organisation.
We’re looking for someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills, a solid track record in Scottish public sector procurement, and excellent organisational and analytical abilities. Proficiency in IT (particularly Excel and Word), a proactive, customer-focused mindset, and high professional integrity are essential. Required qualities include familiarity with Public Contracts Scotland (PCS), an understanding of contract law, and an interest in environmental and sustainability issues.
